Describe the landscape that you love best and say what it is about the landscape that really draws you to it. Can you maybe also suggest why you think (from your own history and background) this landscape above all others captures your imagination, your Whole Being?
I’d been travelling aimlessly for weeks. I was feeling lost and doubting the path I had chosen. Travel was supposed to be fun. I was supposed to be happy. But it wasn’t, and I wasn’t. Self doubt and financial stress was a draining combination. I was preparing to leave, to move on to the next country in the hope of yet another reset when I arrived in Doolin. A tiny town perched on the edge of the Atlantic consisting of a motel, a cafe, a pub, and inexplicably a fudge shop. I had intended to stay a night to see the adjacent Cliffs of Moher and move on, but I stayed until they no longer had a bed for me. It was cold and grey but I had finally found the sense of peace I had been craving.
The smell and sound of the ocean was a comforting constant. The waves crashed against the towering cliffs, the wild grasses danced in the breeze. The day I walked the cliffs saw drastic weather changes. From cold winds that caused me to huddle into my coat to heavy rain, the kind with thick droplets that soaked me in minutes, and eventually sunshine fighting through, drying my hair. That town and those cliffs became the place I was happiest, and I place I intend to return to one day.
